This mural, in the heart of the now creative quarter of Newcastle, shines a light on the largely forgotten local author Jack Common. His warm, honest and gritty writing about the people of Ousebrurn, Heaton and surrounding areas was an inspiration to literary greats such as George Orwell and E.M, Forster. Sadly he died in 1968 without major commercial success, but his work and impact on British literature is far too great to be forgotten. Created as part of the Elements Street Art Festival.
